Welcome.
This site is intended to serve those delegated as Ecumenical/Interreligious
Officers in each Catholic Diocese in the United States, to whom is given the
care of Christian Unity and understanding among faiths. Further, it is
intended to familiarize others interested in the field of Ecumenism and
Interreligious Dialogue with the aims and work of CADEIO.

Father John Crossin, OSFS, Named Head of Bishops' Ecumenical, Interreligious Secretariat Posted on November 23, 2011 WASHINGTON--Father John William Crossin, a member of the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales, has been named executive director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
The appointment becomes effective December 5. Father Crossin succeeds Father James Massa, who returned to his home diocese in Brooklyn, New York, in July.
Msgr. Jenkins, USCCB general secretary, thanked the Oblates for agreeing to the appointment.
"Father Crossin has extraordinary background and expertise in the world of ecumenism and interfaith relations," Msgr. Jenkins said. "He also has strong administrative experience honed in service to his religious congregation. I am delighted to welcome him to the USCCB."

The Pilgrimage of Truth and Peace in Assisi Posted on November 22, 2011 Fr. Thomas Ryan, CSP, directs the Paulist North American Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations in Washington, DC and is a member of CADEIO
I traveled from Rome to Assisi with a group from 18 different countries composed of Eastern and Western Christians, Muslims, and Jews for the day of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world held on October 27 under the motto "Pilgrims of Truth, Pilgrims of Peace."
The gathering of a large crowd there was in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of a similar event in Assisi convoked by Blessed John Paul II in 1986. This day began in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli with "Testimonies for Peace", each one about five minutes in length, delivered by ten of the 176 people representing not only the world's religions, but all people of good will, everyone seeking the truth. Announcing the 2012 Essay Contest Posted on November 22, 2011 The networks of the National Workshop on Christian Unity are hosting again this year an essay contest for all graduate-level students preparing for ministry in your local seminaries, universities and institutes of formation. Members are encouraged to contact your local institutions for individuals to prepare a paper (homily). Contest winners will be announced at the 2012 National Workshop in Oklahoma City, April 16-19.
